Want to Study in Canada? St. Lawrence College Can Help!
Travelling to a new country, getting settled and preparing for school can be a difficult and stressful time. At St. Lawrence College, we’re here to help!
For Rai Nguyen, an international student from Vietnam, the transition to life in Canada took some adjustment, but with the help of SLC, getting settled was made easy. He received support and guidance from the SLC International Office. “They offered help every step of the way,” Rai said. “During the application process and to find a place to live, either on or off campus, they helped me through the steps.” The college has Student Success Facilitators on site to provide the support and resources to help you achieve your academic and personal goals that will make your time at SLC a success.
The Employment Centre offers guidance from industry professionals, who work with you in job-finding workshops, including resume writing, specific workplace training and safety programs, and technology training. St. Lawrence College also gives you the opportunity to earn while you learn. There are many student jobs available on campus that will help you stay connected to your college life while supporting your wallet.
SLC’s close-knit community environment and vibrant campus life make your experience a fun and memorable one. “After doing research on St. Lawrence College and the lifestyle in Kingston, I discovered not only that Kingston is a great area to study, but also that SLC is a great college with a variety of programs, lots of opportunities and ways to get involved and meet new people, ” Rai said.
Rai offered these tips for students planning to move to Canada to study:
1. Don’t be quiet! If you start feeling lonely talk to your friends, family or instructors.
2. Hang out with friends, after school, off campus. This way, you can learn more about the city, too.
3. Sign out books from the library.
4. Get involved and volunteer.
With more than 80 programs and three friendly campuses, St. Lawrence College is a great place to bring your career plans to life. Join us at Open House on Saturday, November 19, 2011, and visit us on
